Monitoring Studies

AP Marine provides services to fishfarming enterprises in order to fulfill the requirments set out by National Legislation requiring companies to carry out a biannual survey and report regarding the quality of the environment surrounding their marine installations. Sampling protocols exist and are strictly implemented.

Samples for water nutrients, chlorophyll a, organic matter, granulometry as well as other sediment abiotic parameters are regularly collected and analysed. Macrofauna is collected by using grab samples from AP Marine’s coastal research vessel. Sample sorting and species identification are carried out at AP Marine’s laboratory by qualified and experienced scientists. Species are entered into AP Marine’s photographic database system for future reference and time series data exists for all fishfarming units AP Marine has supplied services too.

AP Marine is able and regularly produces different types of studies relating to the fishfarming sector on the island and its extensive expertise in environmental impacts.
