Coastal Mapping and Bathymetric Surveys

AP Marine using the onboard equipment and technology that are installed on its coastal research and survey vessel can carry out coastal seabed mapping and bathymetric surveys in order to facilitate planning of man-made interventions, to designate area for special management (MPA's, fisheries no take zones etc).  The information gathered by the benthic cartographic hardware and side scan sonar is processed on specialised mapping software, having first being corroborated by groundtruthing, to incorporate both substrate type and bathymetric data. The final products are presented using GIS where  maps with detailed substrate type and features including bathymetric data and detailed descriptions, are presented.
